Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Cate.

Stacy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? I have lived and worked in the North Dallas area for over 25 years, so my roots run deep. My many years here have been divided into chapters, depending on my family's needs. The early chapters of this book of life include my working as a middle school and high school teacher. I have worked in the Allen and McKinney ISD and at the Imagine IB charter school. Education has always been a passion of mine and I really do love working with those quirky and awkward teenagers. However, after several years in this role and having small children of my own, I knew I needed something that would help me find a better work/life balance. I still have the utmost respect for educators and have been able to keep my passion alive for education by serving on various, not-for-profit boards that support my local ISDs.

This next chapter truly centered around being a mom to my two daughters, wife to my husband of nearly 30 years, and serving as a community volunteer for my growing community. It is during this chapter that I met a local builder and began working with them. I found that I loved this work. Helping families find and build the home of their dreams was absolutely thrilling for me. I love being able to share all the ins and outs of getting the biggest bang for the buck as well as sharing the story and history of the community that I call home. We have so many newbie Texans, coming from all areas of the US, that I feel it my responsibility to share all the hidden gems of a particular area or help them navigate finding the right fit of schools for the kiddos.

I soon decided that as my kiddos were getting older that I wanted to expand my services to not be tied to just one particular builder but share my expertise and depth of knowledge with all areas of this fast-growing area. This is when I decided to pursue my license to become a Realtor in early 2015. Doing so has been absolutely the right fit for me. I love helping people find the right fit for them and their place in the world. I love being able to put my years of knowledge to work for others so that they can find their own happy place and build their own place to call home. I really believe that building this sense of home is essential to our overall happiness. If the skills knowledge and expertise that I have can help someone else find that then that makes my heart happy and full.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you? Absolutely not easy. I will have to say that becoming a successful Realtor has come with its share of ups and downs. Many people think that being a Realtor is easy – show a couple of homes and then show up at the closing table. However, those of us that have committed to making this our professionals know that it is so much more than that. The responsibility of guiding someone through the maze of making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives is something that I take very seriously. I spend a great deal of time keeping myself educated on the constantly changing rules and laws as well as the ups and downs of the market. It can be very dangerous for someone to choose a Realtor who does not treat this as the profession that it is. I consider it my responsibility to protect my client’s interest at all costs and to have the knowledge, patience, and skill to act accordingly in any given circumstance. This is something that can only come from experience and lessons learned along the way.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc? What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others? I think that what I bring as a Realtor is a unique set of skills, area expertise, and something I like to refer to as that touch of ‘southern hospitality’ to the transaction. I have honed my skill set to first and foremost listen to my client’s needs, provide a steady stream of communication and educate them as needed through the transaction process. I have often been told by past clients that it is my being in tune with their needs, patience, communication, and depth of knowledge that they appreciate the most. Having my clients tell me and others that I have served them well makes me very proud.

In addition, I have earned special endorsements in the following: Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE), Real Estate Digital Marketer ( REDM), and New Home Sales Agent Certification (NHSAC). Also, one thing that I have developed that is unique is integrating technology in new and innovative ways to market a property. I am proud to offer my clients a unique way to tell the home’s best features by programming and integrating Amazon Alexa. This is an exclusive offering that allows my listings to shine during any show.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business? I have to say that I think luck certainly has a role to play, but even more, is being prepared. I am the type of person that likes to believe that most people have good intentions toward others and that when I have done my part in being prepared the opportunity will follow. I believe there is a quote to that effect that says something like luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
